One of the most important things you can do as an online service-based business owner is build authentic relationships. The key is to focus on building real connections and providing value, without always trying to sell. When you do this consistently over time, you will naturally attract more leads and clients.

Here are some tips for authentically building relationships online to grow your business.

Show Up Consistently on Social Media

Posting regularly on your socials builds authority and credibility. Engaging with your audience and others in your niche raises your visibility. Doing both of those things organically grows your audience and positions you as an expert worth following.

And when these real connections happen on social media, getting clients becomes easier. Your audience gets to know you and trust you.

Consistency and patience are crucial, but consistency looks different from person to person. Pick a schedule that works for you and stick with it.

Provide Value Without Selling

The key is not to JUST post about yourself and your services on social media. Provide value by sharing your expertise in a way that inspires your audience and helps them realize that they CAN actually get to where you are now. How-to posts are not going to cut it anymore– anyone can Google answers to their questions; it’s all about how you position yourself and how you come across online…that’s how your audience will connect with you.

Network Strategically

Find where your ideal clients hang out online. Online communities (Facebook groups are my fave) have the power to completely sell out your offers. Contribute to the conversation by answering people’s questions, sharing resources, and making genuine connections. Some of my very best online biz besties have come from Facebook groups). This helps organic conversations that often lead to getting clients.

Focus on Giving First

Give more than you take. Share your knowledge freely. This generosity will benefit you in the long run.

I learned from my business coach (a long time ago) to give 3x more than I take. Most of my clients have become my clients because of how much value I gave them for free. They pay me for implementation and ongoing support.

Let Your Personality Shine

People want to know the real YOU. Be real and raw– this makes you relatable. Sharing your stories and personal anecdotes will help your audience connect with you in a deeper level. People want to work with those they know, like, and trust.

Doing all of these things is the key to help you stand out from the competition and grow your online business in 2024. HOWEVER, don’t overwhelm yourself and think that you are doing things “wrong.” There is no right or wrong way to grow your business, but doing these things helped me make leaps in 2023.
